"BABEL: Higuchi Yuko Artworks" is quite unique. Unlike the abundant illustrations in Higuchi Yuko's previous art books, this collection presents a series of illustrations that pay homage to classic art with its concise, high-quality binding and printing design. 🎨

The art book includes works based on classic paintings by 16th-century Dutch painters Hieronymus Bosch and Pieter Bruegel the Elder, such as "The Tower of Babel," "The Last Judgment," "Endurance," "The Big Fish Eats the Little Fish," "Hope," and "The Village Surrounded by Forests." These works are reinterpreted in the "Yuko Higuchi style," depicting a unique world with bizarre and surreal elements. Familiar characters such as Gustav (Octopus Cat), Cat Thor, and One-Eyed Girl also appear in the collection.

The book "BABEL" is amazing inside and out.

The book box cover features a white background with gray lines that accentuate the clever design of the black "BABEL" font for the book title, and is also adorned with a small blue sticker. Upon removing the art book from the box, you can see the partially glossy "BABEL" font printed on the hardcover black cover, giving it a sophisticated feel.

Opening the art book, you're greeted by a variety of illustrations printed in gold ink on a black background on the endpapers, creating a subtle yet luxurious feel that leaves a lasting impression! ✨

Next up is an incredibly gorgeous title page, with an exquisitely printed copperplate bookplate attached, surrounded by an intricate border and hot-stamped black printing—(you could admire it for a long time XD)

The artworks in this book are primarily presented in black and white with gold foil (except for a touch of green in the first piece, "The Tower of Babel"). The printing and paper selection (significantly thicker than usual) are very meticulous; a total of seven works feature gold foil printing! 🤗

It's worth mentioning that at the end of the book, you can see the works in the book placed side by side with the originals, which is quite interesting.

With 32 pages, each one captivating and of high quality, showcasing the author's meticulous drawing skills and thoughtful design, this is a truly collectible book! It also feels like a vintage gem of a book~~💎

Japanese painter and picture book author. Since 1999, she has held solo exhibitions and creative activities irregularly, primarily based in Tokyo. Her first picture book, *[Title of Picture Book]*, was published in 2014.Lost Cat".

Her works often feature animals and plants such as cats, snails, mushrooms, and birds. At first glance, her style is sweet and cute, but upon closer inspection, one discovers a strange and unsettling element hidden in the details. This whimsical sense of conflict and fantastical style has not only won over young people but has also attracted collaborations from popular brands such as Gucci, Shiseido, Majolica Majorca, Uniqlo, and Emily Templecute.
