💬 Book Review

20251220

Since I last collected "The Garden of TraceI've been eagerly anticipating new works from NOMA since reading their art book, and I'm so happy to see "A Lantern of Moonlight" released in Traditional Chinese! (There's quite a bit of text in the art book, and the translation will give me a better understanding of the artist's creative journey.)

To coincide with the book's publication, an exhibition will also be held at Cafe BOMBOM in Taipei at the end of 2025."A Moonlight" Solo Exhibition at NOMA TaiwanI pre-ordered the art book through Cafe BOMBOM online and received a pre-order bonus: a transparent Polaroid collector's card. ✨

"A Moonlight" and the previous traditional Chinese painting collection "The courtyard with tracesThe illustrations in both books hardly overlap, so I highly recommend keeping both! 🙌

The art collection is hardcover, allowing for easy and comfortable reading. It contains 276 pages and 178 carefully selected works; the Traditional Chinese edition also includes 4 new pieces. It's a truly substantial and satisfying read.

NOMA's works, whose themes lie between dreams and reality, feature warm and rich colors, depicting people's deepest emotions and desires. Each time I look at these paintings, I always find solace and resonance in them! 🌙

(And the dogs and cats are so cute >< 🐕🐈)

📍 Official Introduction

NOMA, a popular Korean illustrator, presents her latest art book in Traditional Chinese.

When night falls, please remember—there will always be someone lighting a glimmer of light for your dreams.

A healing book eagerly awaited by 600,000 fans, depicting the deepest loneliness and hope with the softest touch.

Featuring 178 carefully selected works, this collection is a visual poetry dedicated to the soul.

★ Traditional Chinese version - Exclusively includes four brand new works ★

"Chasing that glimmer of light that is sometimes near and sometimes far, and always disappears, is the wish of a lost child."

With bare feet, we traverse the endless, towering wall of despair; with fingertips soaked in blood and tears, we tremble and move forward in the utter darkness where not a ray of light can be seen.

What finally blossomed was the dreamlike, incomplete yet radiant—a ray of moonlight.

The Charm of NOMA's Paintings |

NOMA's paintings are known for their stunning and detailed compositions. The world he depicts flows like a movie, with rich and beautiful colors and a moderate tension. He creates a unique "NOMA style" that bridges the gap between reality and dreams.

Her works never offer a single answer.

Each viewer can see a different story depending on their own state of mind—some see a figure walking forward under the moon, while others feel it is a moment of falling into a dream.

As NOMA says, "The feelings you have when you look at a painting belong entirely to you."

In her paintings, we are allowed to be honest with ourselves: the sad find solace, the weary find peace, and the restless soul is gently enveloped by light.

Each painting in "A Moonlight" is like a whispered story, gentle and real, allowing one to rediscover the courage to encounter oneself and the world while gazing upon it.
