*The Illegal Underground Paradise* (you might mistake the paradise for a band, haha) is author "Nishizuka em's" first commercial illustration collection. The book revolves around the adventures of the protagonist, a young girl. Each chapter begins with a short, colorful comic strip that introduces the plot and connects to a series of illustrations.
The book's exterior and interior design are meticulously crafted, reflecting the overall story.
There should be readers who really enjoy this kind of subject matter featuring specific creatures! This includes poisonous plants, poisonous mushrooms, caterpillars, and marine mollusks (such as sea slugs), and you can see illustrations featuring these creatures paired with girls or dressed in anthropomorphic outfits. 🍄
The creatures in the book are labeled with their names or described in more detail, giving you the feeling of looking at a specimen guide and learning about new species! Combined with some exotic elements, the unique style and subject matter are truly impressive!
(In real life, some people might find it therapeutic, while others might find it terrifying. The visual impact of a giant swallowtail butterfly caterpillar hanging on a girl's head is quite significant 👀 🤣)
Official Introduction
In a magical botanical garden containing poison, the girl will coexist with "what she loves".
A little-known collection of specimens. Caterpillars, poisonous flowers, mushrooms, sea slugs...
Avant-garde watercolor painter who deeply loves insects
Depicting symbiosis and parasitism between humans and animals/plants...
Welcome to the Underground Paradise.
One day on her way home from school, Ruri, a high school girl dressed in a sailor uniform, accidentally wanders into the biological research park, which is managed by a mysterious man named "Sick Field" who wears a plague mask. It is said that various plants and animals are used here for a treatment method called "symbiotic therapy"...
"But...the creatures here are... way too big!?"
The path to the underground paradise might be a tree hollow, or it might be the gaping maw of a pitcher plant. You might be welcomed, or you might become nourishment for other plants and animals. Either way, the fairies look at you with curious eyes and begin to pull your fingers…
Will Ruri be able to uncover the mystery within the beautiful, specimen-like creatures of the garden...?
