"Artists in Korea: A Selection of Korean Illustrators and Comic Artists" is related to "Artists in Taiwan 2022: Selected Artwork by Taiwanese Illustrators and Comic ArtistsThe art books released at the same time include two separate catalogs of illustrators from Taiwan and South Korea, featuring selected works.

This book features 78 Korean creators. The Korean version was released in November 2021, and the Taiwanese Chinese version was released this year. Just like the Taiwanese version, which is bilingual in Chinese and Japanese, this book is also bilingual in Chinese and Korean (including interviews and drawing tutorials).

The same design is used on the exterior, with a bright orange-pink color from the cover, dust jacket, and fold-out pages to the inner cover. The title lettering features beautiful iridescent silver foil stamping.

The cover illustration is by Tiv, and it should be themed around local scenery and features, just like in Taiwan.

Each illustrator is featured on only two pages, including their artwork, a biographical introduction in Chinese and Korean, and relevant information (language, email, URL, pixiv ID). However, unlike the Taiwanese edition, it doesn't include their social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Plurk), making it less convenient to find ways to follow them.

The book includes an 8-page interview with Tiv in Chinese and Korean at the end; as well as a sharing of the creative process by modare.

I'm not as familiar with Korean illustrators as I am with Taiwanese illustrators, but I still enjoyed looking at these works very much, after all, they are a selection of masterpieces from various fields! 😍
