"The Hazelnut's Wish" is a pop-up picture book created by French artists Dominique Ehrhard and Anne-Florence Lemasson. The original French version was published in 2017, and the Traditional Chinese version was published by Grimm Publishing in 2018.

The unboxing video I did beforeMUSÉUM POP-UP Paper MuseumThis is also a work by this French creative duo!

The book has 16 pages in total. The story begins in winter and tells the story of a hazelnut that a squirrel dropped. Although it is not long, it cleverly presents a plot that echoes the beginning and the end and delicate scenes.

Each page features a beautifully designed 3D structure, vividly depicting animals such as squirrels, mice, tits, crows, and cats—they're absolutely adorable! 🐦

Besides the three-dimensional creatures, I also really like the visual depth and layering in the scene. 🌨

The design combines cutout and pasting techniques. For example, white dots pasted on the book represent snow falling on the ground, creating a raised tactile texture that is memorable. The small white flowers on the last page are also pasted on, giving each petal a three-dimensional effect.

Through a theatrical format, *The Hazelnut's Wish* brings readers a story of life in nature. 🌱

Official Introduction

This poetic pop-up book is like a theater on paper.
The exquisite design allows us to see the beauty of nature and craftsmanship.

"It snowed early this year. Winter came very suddenly."
There wasn't enough time for anyone to prepare.

Winter has arrived. In its haste, the squirrel dropped a hazelnut.
The hazelnut was buried in the snow, and no passing animals noticed it.
What will happen when spring returns?

In the heavy snow, a hazelnut was forgotten on the snow. As the snowflakes fell, the hazelnut escaped the fate of being eaten by animals...

The book's exquisite 3D design is like a series of beautiful paper theater scenes, perfectly recreating the postures of squirrels, mice, tits, crows, and cats. At the end of the story, winter passes, spring arrives, and the sprouting hazelnuts grow into saplings, encapsulating the rhythm of nature within the book.
