About the Author

Trang Nguyen

Born in 1990, she is a Vietnamese wildlife conservationist, environmental activist, and writer. She is best known for her conservation efforts against the illegal wildlife trade in Africa and Asia.

She completed her PhD in Biodiversity Management at the University of Kent, UK, researching the impact of traditional Asian medicine's use of animals in medicine on African wildlife. In 2018, she co-authored the documentary *Stroop: Journey into the Rhino Horn War* with Jane Goodall. In 2019, she was named one of the BBC's 100 Most Influential Women of the Year. In 2020, she was selected for Forbes' "30 Under 30 Asia" list. As the founder and CEO of the NGO WildAct, she monitors illegal wildlife trade markets and provides conservation education courses for Vietnamese youth. She is also a member of the IUCN SSC Bear Specialist Group, an organization dedicated to bear conservation and advocating for bears worldwide to live in their native habitats. This book is her debut work, written for young children.

Jeet Zdung

An award-winning illustrator who blends traditional Vietnamese art with Japanese comics, creating beautiful and innovative works using pencil, watercolor, ink, and other digital media. His comic book *Stand Up and Fly* won the Silent Manga Audition Excellence Award. This book, *The Girl Who Protects the Malayan Sun Bear*, is his debut work. He currently resides in Hanoi, Vietnam.
