📍 Exhibition Introduction
Life is Just A Bowl of Cherries!
This phrase first appeared in the 1931 American song of the same name, "Life is Just a Bowl of Cherries," with lyrics by Lew Brown, music by Ray Henderson, and first sung by Rudy Vallée. The lyrics express a positive and optimistic attitude towards life, believing that although life is short and unpredictable, we should enjoy the present and not worry about the future.
The phrase "bowl of cherries" symbolizes sweetness and happiness, as cherries are often seen as a symbol of joy and good fortune in Western culture. However, by the 1970s, the phrase began to take on a more ironic meaning and was widely used to indicate that "life isn't always so nice," especially when spoken with a tone of helplessness or self-deprecation.
I came across this sentence while searching for inspiration. After confirming and understanding its interpretation, I felt it was very suitable as the title of a book or exhibition, and also very suitable for me (?). So I used this sentence as the theme for the 2025 calendar. I also used this sentence when thinking about the title of the exhibition, intending to bless and expect a bountiful life, and also implying that life is not always a harvest.

I jumped on the internet too early. I wanted to celebrate the tenth anniversary of this pen name, but when I calculated it, it's already been twelve years (not to mention before I had this name). Along the way, sometimes I've received beautiful rubies in my bowl, and sometimes I've been stuffed with overripe and rotten cherries.
And I wasn't able to draw well or be a good person from the start.
From being disliked by almost no one, constantly criticized, and unable to sell my products, to having a group of people willing to support me and stand behind me, looking back and thinking about it carefully, I realize that it wasn't so easy to do. I made it through.
I originally thought I'd just say it's been ten years and call it a day, you know I'm too lazy to commemorate numbers, but then I thought about it and realized that this exhibition isn't just to record my own journey, but also to dedicate to all the friends who have accompanied me all the way to where I am today.
May your life and mine both be like a delicious bowl of cherry blossoms 🍒
