Ilya Kuvshinov's work is loved by many (she currently has 2.01 million followers on Instagram) and she is known for her character designs in *Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045* and *Birthday Fantasy*. Ilya Kuvshinov, an illustrator born in Volgadonsk, Russia, and currently residing and active in Yokohama, Japan, primarily draws Japanese beautiful girls. If you like Ilya Kuvshinov's work, you'll likely notice the indispensable element: the square frame. Ilya Kuvshinov believes that the square best expresses emotions and is also the most effective way to draw the viewer's attention.

Previously, while working at a video game development company in Moscow, Ilya Kuvshinov used 16:9 (or 4:3) aspect ratio frames. While the 16:9 format was good for depicting character movements and telling stories, Ilya Kuvshinov wanted to capture "special moments," so she chose square frames. With 690,000 followers on Instagram and 150,000 on Twitter, Ilya Kuvshinov has finally released her first commercial art book, which will feature her illustrations of beautiful Japanese girls.

About the Author

Ilya Kuvshinov（イリヤ・クブシノブ）

A Russian-born illustrator currently active in Japan. She studied design at the Moscow Art Academy and, after graduating, worked at a game company to further hone her digital drawing skills before starting work as a motion comic supervisor. Since 2014, she has been a freelance artist. Her first art book, "MOMENTARY" (published by PIE International), was published in 2016. In 2017, she participated in Japanese animation work, serving as character designer for the anime *Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045* and *Birthday Fantasy*.
