💬 Book Review

20260725

If you enjoy the work of Japanese illustrator Chiaki Ida, you're probably familiar with his depictions of "homes" that are full of life. 🏡

I previously unboxed his illustrated book, "Homebody"and"Looking forward to startingOne book depicts the daily lives of five women and their homes, while the other meticulously records the small things in life, from food and cooking to tableware.

This time, "The Home I Love" (おさまる家) feels like a journey back to the starting point of my creative process.

The book includes seven early doujinshi works by the author, along with recently redrawn comics, essays, and other content, essentially stringing together approximately ten years of creative work around the ever-present theme of "home." 💛

The book, totaling 192 pages, depicts a variety of imaginative home scenes, offering a warm and comforting experience. It also includes newly drawn manga pieces, "Maruo-san's House" and "Elsewhere Here."

In Chiaki Ida's paintings, the reason why a home is desirable is not because it is luxurious or perfect, but because it contains the things that one truly loves!

A comfortable chair, a favorite lamp, a row of books in your collection, small trinkets on the table, or even a seemingly inconspicuous corner can all be reasons to stay home. 🪑📚☕

What kind of life makes one feel happy?

Maybe it's curling up in your favorite room reading, maybe it's staying in a warm home in winter, or maybe it's just having a meal with someone important.

Those seemingly ordinary daily moments become precious memories under Chiaki Ida's pen. 🏠✨
