"Dragalia Lost" is a mobile game developed by Nintendo and Cygames and released in 2018.

I was immediately drawn in by the art style when I first played; I especially loved the character and dragon illustrations, and I enjoyed admiring them while playing! I played for a fairly long time, but then stopped; the game is also scheduled to shut down shortly after the final chapter of the story is released. (Mobile games eventually have to shut down, so this planned closure seems like a good thing?)

Then, Cygames' mobile game "World Flipper" continued this art style (the character illustrations are fantastic), and also incorporated a pixel art style. The smoothness of the interface and the gameplay are impressive, making it a game I highly recommend trying.

This is a must-have for fans of the game's art design! You don't even need to have played the game; just admiring the character and dragon designs is a feast for the eyes. The 304-page art book is truly substantial.

Because it took quite a while after the art collection was published to finally get my hands on it, I was worried that I wouldn't be able to buy it. Luckily, it was reprinted later, and I managed to get the second edition.

What I love most are the illustrations of individual characters! You can find elements with different themes and easily pick out a bunch of characters you like.

The decorations, especially the backgrounds (bases), are meticulously crafted, and each piece is worth appreciating (I sometimes prefer the background to the figures 🤣).

Some pieces also incorporate dynamic lighting and objects, creating a vibrant and lively color scheme that's visually pleasing! 💛

Besides the characters, dragons are also a major focus of this work. Handsome, beautiful, cute, and even human-like (?) dragons are all featured on a full page. 🐲

Then there's the Dragon Radiance Amulet card, background setting, related game illustrations, and event illustrations, which also take up a considerable amount of space.

This art book has very little text (except for a few chapters on the Dragon's Radiance Amulet), so you can really appreciate the illustrations!

(So I accidentally took too many unboxing photos XDD)

Official Introduction

The Courageous Glory of the Human-Dragon Pact

In the kingdom of Alberia, where humans and dragons coexist, members of the royal family possess the potential to form contracts with dragons. Only those who make contracts with dragons can gain the ability to transform into dragons and the right to inherit the throne. However, the rare "Holy Shard," a relic containing enough power to defend against monster attacks, has suddenly lost its power. To find a new Holy Shard, the seventh prince, the protagonist, embarks on an adventure. He will encounter powerful monsters, meet new companions, and meet a mysterious girl in a mask.

This official art book is divided into four main chapters: "CHARACTER," "DRAGON," "WYRMPRINT," and "ILLUSTRATION GALLERY," plus four bonus chapters: "CHARACTER DESIGN ROUGH," "DRAGON DESIGN ROUGH," "RAID BOSS," and "SCENE ART." It includes character illustrations and card text, depictions of dragons and their card text, beautiful illustrations and stories of dragon charms, character and dragon design sketches, and official illustrations from both inside and outside the game. A book that witnesses the courage and radiance emanating from the pact between humans and dragons!
