The book blends the author's observations of nature with fantastical imagination, depicting the daily life of the spirit world intertwined with its natural environment through delicate illustrations. From rock spirits, sky spirits, forest spirits... it extends to all sorts of spirit forms!

The picture book "The Daily Life of an Elf" is the result of a long period of gestation and imagination. The creator has drawn on the background of his own painting, design, animation and clothing. It contains the nourishment of color aesthetics and the philosophy that all things teach us. Through this, he also wants to tell every reader: "Imagine yourself as an elf, happily traversing the mountains and forests, exploring your own destiny, and being yourself without any disguise."

// The Origin of Creation in a Single Thought //

Looking back on my creative journey, I mostly enjoy drawing warm, cute, and colorful content. I have tried some melancholic themes, but during the drawing process, my own immersion in the artwork would influence the artwork, causing me to fall into negative emotions. Since then, I have decided to focus on themes that can convey warmth, happiness, love, and gratitude.

The Elf series originated from aimless doodles, which gradually took the form of living faces. Using faces as the theme, and combining them with natural species, various kinds of elves were created. I think only continuous creation can inspire all kinds of coincidences!

// A sneak peek at the daily life of an elf //

Before the appearance of humankind, a group of elves created this world. These elves possessed ancient wisdom and magical powers, bringing the symphony of life to nature.

The little elves each have their own role; as tiny cogs transporting the seeds of life, they are small yet important beings.

The little elves needed to cross a long river, and the river spirits heard their inner cries.

The forest spirit picked up the seed of life and felt an unprecedented energy.

The deep breaths of the forest spirits are like a gentle lullaby, or a warm breeze. The trees grow alongside them, and the entire forest thrives.

The little elves, dressed up in their finest attire, danced a joyful dance of thanksgiving.

About the Author

Dachun

Despite the prevalence of the "slash career" lifestyle, I have always been part of the "main career" category. I studied at Fu-Hsing Arts College, Da-Yeh University's Department of Visual Communication, and Tainan National University of the Arts' Graduate Institute of Animation. In my spare time, I only enjoy going to exhibitions; I can't leave these places and don't want to leave them.

Even after entering the workforce, I continued to create art and mustered the courage to become an artist. I love watching the paint gradually fill the entire canvas, as if the artwork itself is growing. The sense of accomplishment upon completion brings me immense joy. I enjoy observing natural scenery and incorporating my imagination. Whenever I see incredible plants and animals, their outlines, shapes, and colors always leave me in awe.

I'm skilled at using acrylic paints, adding additives to enhance texture, and sometimes using colored pencils, crayons, or pencil sketches to add depth. Recently, I explored embroidery and ceramics, immersing myself in the sensory experience of touching these materials, which seemed to allow me to express my thoughts more intimately and intuitively.

"Life is creation." Whether it's cooking a dish, cutting your own hair, or decorating a room, as long as you enjoy it, I think it's a wonderful moment to enjoy creation.
