"Fantasy in Love" is a personal art collection by Chinese illustrator "Black Sesame Paste," containing nearly 200 of his works from 2015 to 2021, with a rich collection of 208 pages.

The art book is bound with a bare spine and can be laid flat for viewing. The cover features a double-sided design with the title on both sides partially varnished, while the inner cover has silver foil lettering; however, the overall printing quality doesn't feel very good.

The author has drawn covers and illustrations for many well-known novels and games, with most of the works being BL (Boys' Love) themed. It seems there are a lot of cover illustrations for Thai BL novels (and the illustrations for double covers are all of them); in addition to commercial works, there are also some original works (about one-sixth).

The content spans ancient and modern times, featuring handsome men and beautiful women (though there are far fewer women). However, I seem to prefer the ancient-style works in this collection; each piece creates an atmosphere for various scenes, both large and small! I always feel that the eyes of the characters the artist depicts have a kind of dreamy quality XD

The last section contains a few black-and-white works plus a two-page Q&A interview with the author.

The figures depicted are rendered with remarkable skill and expressiveness, each piece creating a distinct narrative atmosphere. The exceptional understanding of light and shadow further enhances the overall beauty of the artwork. Whether depicting modern or ancient beauties, each is captivating and enchanting.

About the Author

Black sesame paste

A freelance illustrator from China, graduated from the Chinese Painting Department of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute. Specializing in novel cover design and illustrations, she focuses on both domestic and international illustration fields. She excels in semi-realistic ink-wash style illustrations in a traditional Chinese aesthetic, favoring female-oriented themes and adept at depicting mature beauty. Her work includes illustrations for numerous well-known novels and games, such as *Against the Tide*, *Living in Suffering, Forever Together*, *A Lifetime as a Minister*, *Under One Person*, *A Dream of Jianghu*, and *The Husky and His White Cat Shizun*.
