📍 Exhibition Introduction

Japanese retro-modern illustrator Natsuki Kamui combines modern fashion trends with traditional Japanese kimono elements to create avant-garde and stylish Japanese-inspired clothing. Three years ago, she launched her new collection, '...'Retro-modern kimono-clad woman: Character design guideFollowing its critical acclaim, he released his first personal collection of works in 2024.Introductory poem (ゐろは)』, and will hold "Red Flower Painting|Kamui Natsuki's First Solo Exhibition in Taiwan" at d/art Gallery in Ximending, Taipei from October 12 (Sat) to November 10 (Sun) in 2024!

Natsuki Kamui's first collection of works, "Introduction Poems (Iroha)," has the meaning of red flower in Japanese. The word "Iroha" comes from the waka poem "Iroha Uta" from the Heian period of Japan. Both "Iroha" and "Iroha" are classical Japanese terms, often used to describe red flowers or leaves unique to Japan. Combined with "red flower dyeing," a traditional dyeing technique for Japanese kimonos, this became the title of this exhibition, "Red Flower Idyeing."

"Red Flower Painting | Natsuki Kamui's First Solo Exhibition in Taiwan" will showcase 100 paintings from her book "Introduction Poems," as well as a video of the painting process behind the cover of "Introduction Poems." Natsuki Kamui has also been invited to Taiwan to hold a signing event and seminar on October 19th (Saturday). The exhibition area will not be open to the public during the seminar. Attendees will have access to several of her collection's paintings, her debut book "Introduction Poems," "Retro Modern Kimono Women: Character Design Guidebook," and other merchandise. From October 12th (Saturday) to November 10th (Sunday), 2024, visitors are welcome to visit the d/art gallery in Ximending and step into a retro-modern world that blends Taisho Romanticism with Mucha's Art Nouveau style.
