"The Creative Motivation of Two Doors"

The motivation for the creation of this 3D picture book is mainly due to Star’s idea of seeing the unique Terraced House in the UK. Because the structure of Terraced House is two doors next to each other, it is reminiscent of two books turning pages in opposite directions. Look like. Since it is a door, there must be two different worlds behind the door, so there is a story about these two protagonists. Readers can use the way of turning the pages of the two books against each other. When reading, it is like opening the door with the protagonist to experience the interesting parallel world.

"The Story of Two Doors"

This story tells the story of two men in different time and space who accidentally exchanged into each other's world because they returned home and opened the door.

The protagonist in the book on the right is called Nick. He is like many people in modern times. He lives alone in an apartment in London, eats, watches TV, and goes for a walk. Ignore the puppy.

On the other hand, the protagonist Charlie on the left is an English gentleman who lived in the Victorian period more than 100 years ago. Although he was accompanied by his family in his daily life, he was still lonely for most of the time. I also ignored the feelings of the little girl Mary.

In two periods, two lonely souls, until one day they returned home and opened the door, and found that after running into each other's world, their peaceful life began to change.

Star wants to tell readers through this story that we live a regular life every day. If we try to make some changes one day, can we add some different pleasures to our lives? So try to make some small changes in your life, life will become even more different.

About the Author

Star Cheng

A native of Taiwan, he has a master's degree in graphic illustration design from Kingston University in London, UK. He is good at illustration, pop-up book and paper sculpture design.

The creative concept is often combined with the story to design a variety of highly interactive works, so that readers can experience different reading methods. Participated in the London Design Week in the UK, the Taiwan Pavilion at the Frankfurt Book Fair in Germany, and the Singapore Illustration Art Festival.

This is a book that can be opened from both sides at the same time (that is, the door!). The material of the cover is very advanced and comfortable to the touch (?), it seems to be a canvas material. According to the author, it is to make the cover easier to preserve. There is a layer of paper book box on the outside of the book, and the inner pages are made of very thick and strong material, which makes it feel satisfying (?). The contents of the book are mentioned earlier, that is, the two protagonists are different but somewhat similar in daily life.
