Official Introduction

Marine ecology is one of the sustainable development goals of the United Nations SDGs, and numerous pollution information and marine life disaster information continue to appear in the news. Different environmental groups use various methods to educate the people, but the briefing and news methods lack clear visual guidance and the information links in their heads are scattered. So the University of Alaska and us began to develop a complete and integrated art education method.

The use of pop-up books as a medium is to attract the attention of children and to think about the source of the problem from a series of causal pictures:

  1. Our Plastic Ocean Page 5: The rubbish produced in our daily consumption living in the city, to the waste catastrophe that affects marine life, and finally enters the food chain and eats in our stomachs.

But in addition to seeing the problem, you also need to know how to change your behavior, so I turned to another cover:

  1. Our clean ocean page 5: From refusing to use disposable packaging, bringing your own containers, choosing to reduce the use of plastics, to participating in beach cleaning, and bravely speaking out to return to the beautiful environment for sea creatures.

The design of the double cover stimulates readers’ thinking, which in turn affects their own behavior, establishes correct values from an early age, and changes the world starting from education.

The reading of pop-up books allows children to create a picture impression. In addition, a companion reading manual is included, which includes dialogue guidance for teachers and parents; the production of three-dimensional story cards allows students to write or draw new stories and theater books. The use of boxes and the practice of explaining the topics in the performance are all ways to allow children to use their brains to create more deeply and deal with the topic of sea waste.

However, after the course test, the degree of absorption is limited purely through reading, so I decided to attach a companion reading manual: including dialogue guidance to stimulate thinking, three-dimensional story card production to allow students to produce a practical transformation; the use of theater book box acting can make Children are willing to express, and they can make people go deeper into the issue of marine waste.

"Our Plastic Ocean, Our Clean Ocean" is an online platform for fundraising, but it uses on-site pickupReduce the waste of resources when sending. At that time, I went to the Banqiao 435 Arts and Cultural Special Zone to pick up the goods, got the pop-up book myself, and listened to the lecture by the way. The accessories other than the book body inside include the book case, the Chinese version of the accompanying reading manual, the English version of the accompanying reading manual, the component set, and two bonus cards (shark fin card and seal card) and a yellow bird poster (like the bronzing design ).

Apart frommeaning of education, This book is inMany aspects have considered reducing environmental pollution, Such as using environmentally friendly paper, soy ink, not using shrink film, reducing excessive plastic packaging, and all 2,000 copies are assembled by hand in Taiwan.

In the book, you can see how humans destroy the marine environment, and then eat their own evil results. Turning to the other side of the book, you can see that from Our Plastic Ocean to Our Clean Ocean, we must "reduce plastic" from our own life to reduce it from the source. Rubbish, let the sea return to the past! Because it is an educational project, there are also a lot of pop-up card versions in the companion manual, which are suitable for children to do it by hand, and then understand such topics; the book case also becomes a theater box after adding the background, and you can use small components to say story.
