About the Author

Makoto Shinkai

Japanese animation director, born in Nagano Prefecture in 1973. In 2002, he gained attention with the short animation "Voice of the Stars", which was almost independently produced by himself. After that, he successively published "Beyond the Clouds, the Promised Place", "Five Centimeters Per Second", "Children Chasing the Stars", "The Court of Words" and other works have won many awards at home and abroad. The animation "Your Name" released in 2016 has become a record-breaking film. The art collection of Makoto Shinkai's film "Children Chasing the Stars", which I love very much, was actually bought at TAAZE at a second-hand price of 290 yuan! But no outer boxThat outer box is super like the cover itself).

The content is the beautiful picture in the movie: the familiar Shinkai Makoto, especially the sky and the changes of light and shadow. The horizontal design allows the diagram to be better displayed, and there are interviews with many members of the team at the end of the book.

In fact, I didn't follow the movie "Children Chasing the Stars" when it was released. At the beginning, my impression of Makoto Shinkai was in the more recent "The Garden of Words" and the previous one "Your Name". Until 2018, in order to have more harvest and inspiration from the "Makoto Shinkai Exhibition" held in Huashan, I only read almost all of Makoto Shinkai's works (the earliest to "The Voice of the Stars") from the beginning. It was found that Makoto Shinkai's depiction of light and shadow was really gorgeous from the beginning, and the train scene (the inner light and shadow) really kept appearing.

The plot of Makoto Shinkai in the early stage is really heavy, and many paragraphs will still be emotional after reading, but it is very realistic (compared to Happy Ending, sometimes the faint ending is more unforgettable). "Children Chasing the Stars" feels different from the previous style, and I made too many associations to find elements of Hayao Miyazaki (X) (Like Shun/Hall, Mimi/Dido in the Valley of the Wind, Giant/City in the Sky Giant... ) But this one and "Weathering With You" are my two favorite Shinkai Makoto works!

In the title, I would like to share some of my favorite soundtracks from Makoto Shinkai’s film (“Your Name” and “Weathering With You” are all songs that I like, so I won’t mention them in particular🤣), including:
