Although this book has a lot of pages, it is very light to hold. It's a pity that the gallery can't be spread out well. There are not many spreads, but there are still. I really want the first mirror and the inside and back cover to be flattened🤣.

The titles on the cover and side of the book are partially polished, and the details of the inner cover, title page (wrapping paper), book waist, and poster are not sloppy!

I really like the design where the first half of the page numbers are very large and integrated into the illustrated page. The characters in Men Xiaolei's writings really have a unique charm, and they can't help but imagine the story behind each person. The included works span various styles of illustrations~

The second half is the author's 4 short color comics. One of them happened to be in another collection of comics and illustrations I collected "19 daysWorks included in "(pictured below).

The first half of the illustrations and the second half of the comics are printed on different papers. The former is smooth and the latter is rougher, which is quite special~

I really like the two passages that Men Xiaolei said:

"Because I only paint what I want to paint."
"Why don't you draw girls with single eyelids?" "Why don't you have people with other skin colors?" "I look forward to you painting boys."

Official Introduction

The book "SISTERHOOD" is a collection of selected works for Men Xiaolei launched by Genkosha for the first time in her career. It looks back on Men Xiaolei's creative journey from 2006 to 2019. It contains hundreds of illustrations and four unofficial works. Many of the published short comic works, and many self-financed publications by authors who have been out of print, are also selected in a few frames.

At the end of the book, a long interview with Men Xiaolei herself is included. From her painting development to the opportunity to become a professional painter, the difficulties and changes encountered along the way, as well as her source of inspiration, painting process and materials, and then In the interview, she shared her personal life with readers.

This book also interviews the gallery operator and book designer Katol, who has worked with Xiao Lei for many years since the early days, to talk about his early cooperation with Xiao Lei and his observations of her. Finally, this book invites Mon Xiaolei, the famous Japanese manga and illustrator whose influence he has been deeply influenced by Mr. Mun Xiaolei, to exchange ideas with the new Japanese illustrator TANAKA MISAKI (たなかみさき) with Mon Xiaolei as the main axis, and talk about the analysis of the door. For the binding part, the Traditional Chinese version enlarges the book format from 15cm x 21cm of the original Japanese version to 19cm x 26cm (about 1.5 times), so that readers can see the details of the work more clearly. The "installation" binding method allows cross-page illustration works to be flattened and fully appreciated, avoiding part of the content of the work being eaten up by the space between the pages, and adding more collectibility.

In addition, we also asked Men Xiaolei to paint a new and exclusive painting for the traditional Chinese version: She was inspired by a century-old handmade wooden barrel shop on Zhongshan North Road in Taipei, combining her unique feminine elements, music and magical imagery. In it, a fixed scene spanning the ages and sealing up time is created, printed on fine art paper into a large poster of 50cm x 70cm, for all readers who purchase the Chinese version of the book to collect.

About the Author

Little Thunder

Cartoonist, illustrator. Born in Hong Kong in 1984. At the age of 11, he first contributed to a Hong Kong comic magazine. At the age of 15, he serialized the comic "SEED" in the "Sing Tao Daily". After graduating from high school, he became a professional cartoonist. Besides Hong Kong, he also published cartoons and illustrations in cartoon magazines in Guangdong, China. In 2009, he participated in the French Corsica Manga Festival, Tokyo Design Festival, Taipei and Singapore Toy Fairs. Invited by Belgian publishing house Kana, the French version of the "Kylooe" trilogy has been published since 2010. In 2011, "Kylooe" won the Domination International Manga Award from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan. In 2013, he participated in the important program "Concert de dessins" (Concert de dessins) of the French Angoulê International Comics Festival, and was one of the first Chinese invited.

In recent years, Men Xiaolei has been very active. In addition to drawing covers for many novels and CDs, he also cooperates with coffee shops, interior decoration and fashion brands. In 2019, a new work "Algae and Waves and Infinity", and held the original painting exhibition in the same store; in the same year, it was published by Japan's GenkoshaSISTERHOOD: Selected Works of Men Xiaolei"(Traditional Chinese version will be published by Facebook in 2020). Solo exhibitions will be held at PARCO in Tokyo and Osaka in 2020Scent of Hong Kong", and launched a collection of paintings of the same name.
